"An Average Evening With Apel Danger (WIP)" (2025)
Meet Apel Danger. She can’t remember her real name, but vaguely remembers Mama calling her “Apple”. She believes that you can’t change the name your mama gives you, and you can’t change the spelling even when you figure out how to spell “apple” years later.

Her last name is "Danger" because she read it in a book, and thought it sounded cool. But it’s not her real last name. She hopes to ask Mama what it is one day.

Also, she would like you to know that she is a very average and typical girl who is raising herself just fine. The haunted house she lives in is really annoying and keeps trying to prevent her from eating bugs and exploring in the woods. But she doesn’t need any help at all, and certainly not from whatever ghost is possessing this house!

"The Show Must Go On" (2024)
It's the night of the field show, and a color guard freshman STILL can't do a simple toss. The hyper-competitive guard captain tries to give her some tough love, but will it be enough? Will the show...go on?
Color guard is very personal to me! From ages 11 to 18 I was in parades and shows almost weekly during the school year. I found my love of performing through it, and have many fond memories that I’ve always wanted to put into a story. When I transitioned from middle school guard to high school guard, I had a hard time keeping up with the higher expectations. I struggled with the complex tosses, and I legitimately thought I’d spill my brains out from some of those crazy flag moves. This story is inspired by this difficult transition I went through, although this character is way more determined that I ever was! If what happened in this board actually happened to 14 year old me, she’d be crying and running far, far away from the field!

"Alleyway Confession" (2023)

A scene adaptation from the book "Last Night at the Telegraph Club", a romance novel set in 1950's San Francisco.

I chose to adapt this scene for Ian Abando's class at Brainstorm School because, one: I love historical romances, and two: I connected with the story and characters on a personal level. I wanted to use lighting to communicate Lily's struggle to admit that she has feeling for Kath. Lily sees a kiss in a lit room, then retreats into the street, where Kath is bathed in a street light, and her in darkness. Though they end the scene hidden in an alleyway, their love is symbolically illuminated by Coit Tower in the distance.
